Father Steve and Reader Marion joined us for this important worship as we remembered all those who gave their lives in war and conflict. Our Head Boy and Head Girl laid wreaths, we held a minutes silence and prayed for Peace.
Father Steve and Father Max were joined by our team of servers as they shared All Saints Worship with our school community. The servers were chosen from the group of children who have been taking their First Communion classes.
Father Max led us in a very special Harvest worship as we gave thanks for all that we have in the world. Thank you to all of our families, who very generously donated a record breaking amount of food and toiletries, especially given the challenging times we are living in. All of the contributions will be shared with those most in need in our local community.
The children confidently sang three special Harvest songs and Year 6 delivered the readings and prayers. During the worship, Father Max taught us how bread is made before blessing a very special harvest loaf, kindly baked by one of our School Governors, Kate Riches. Back at school, every child in our school community was offered a delicious piece of the Harvest loaf, as we shared one bread together. On the final day of the school year, we celebrated our amazing children by handing out certificates for academic attainment and progress, sports stars, school council and faith group as well as recognising children who demonstrate our school values. One special student in Year 6 was chosen to receive a 'Sparkle' award kindly donated by the Jimmy Mizzen Foundation.
A very special worship to say a special farewell to our amazing Year 6 class was held in St Mary's Church. The worship was led by Father Steve and Father Max and attended by parents, clergy and governors. Many thanks to Mr Stringfellow for coordinating the music. The service provided an opportunity to appreciate our amazing Year 6 class and all they have achieved at St Mary's, as well as wishing them well for the future. Each child received a Bible as a gift before enjoying photos on the Church steps.
We celebrated our Year 6 children's journey through (up to) 8 years at St Mary's and prayed from their next steps as they prepare for Secondary school. Set in our wonderful and inspiring home Cathedral of Southwark, this service was an opportunity to join together with other school's from across our Diocesan Family. There was an address from Bishop Karowei and music, song and blessings for our amazing children.
Marion from St Mary's Church is always a welcome visitor to our school and she led us in Worship as we reflected on May Day. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was the central theme of the worship. Children from Year 6 shared a Bible reading and prayers.
All of the children developed their spirituality in a space of peace and reflection. Children sat in small groups around a candle and focused on Bible readings, with time to reflect on our school values. A multi-sensory experience was created with incense, scented candles and taize music.
Easter bonnets and Easter eggs designed by our creative children were celebrated at this special Easter worship. Well done to everyone who took part in our competitions, especially our prize winners! The worship ended with a lively Easter parade around the school.
Our Worship focused on the Muslim period of prayer, reflection and fasting. We shared readings from the Bible and the Quran. Children shared their beliefs and practises as well as sharing the significance of this special time in the Islamic faith.
