Y4 visited Creekside Discovery Centre to find out more about the features of the River Thames and some of the creatures that make it their home. We also studied lots of interesting artefacts that had been found by or in the river.
In DT, year 4 have been making and testing boats. We wanted to find out what material and shape made the best sail.
Year 4 had lots of fun competing in the Platform Cricket tournament in Greenwich Park, and one of our teams even got through to the quarter finals!
This term St Mary's was lucky enough to get a place on the London Beekeepers' Association "Honeybee Programme".
As well as a visit to the school from a beekeeper and a gardening session planting bee-friendly plants, Year 4 visited Brockwell Park Apiary to learn why bees are so special and important. We had an amazing time! We found out how Roman Aqueducts were made and created some of our own. We designed, built, tested and evaluated them. It was a lot of fun!
In Science we learned all about the four different types of teeth that we have, and we had lots of fun using mirrors to try and find them in our mouths.
In Year 4 we enjoyed looking for patterns to try and solve a tricky problem using our addition skills.
We kept trying and didn't give up until we found a solution! We visited the Maritime Museum to learn all about Polar Explorers as part of our learning in History.
The children worked as a team to plan an expedition to the North Pole. We went into the museum galleries to research what food we could eat, clothes we could wear, how we could make a shelter, travel and keep ourselves entertained! We had a great time, behaved briliantly and learned a lot. |
