Agents of Change
Agents of Change involve initiatives that empower children and families to develop agency, critical thinking and the ability to influence their school environment, communities and future. They transform the learning experience from passive knowledge acquisition into active participation, fostering skills such as empathy, resilience, teamwork and sustainability. At St Mary's, we want everyone in our School Community to know that they have a voice and they can create change, for themselves and others.
Each class choose a 'Courageous Advocacy' project every year, where they learn about different communities (school, local and global) and how they can make a positive change. We work closely with Citizens UK and the Institute of Education to work in partnership with local community groups to campaign for change.

Tuesday 31 March 2026 New Ghana School Appeal for running water New Life Academy need our help! There is no running water at their school in the Bawku West District and as you will see in the videos below, the children have to carry heavy containers of water to the School every day. We are fundraising with a target of £1,500 to pay for a borehole to be dug so that the School and the local village can benefit from running water - this would have a transformational impact on this community. St Mary's Faith Group have already raised £200 through their Easter Fayre and Year 6 are planning a Summer event as part of their Courageous Advocacy work.
