Roots of Empathy - special visitors

Year 3 are thrilled to continue on the ‘Roots of Empathy’ journey. It’s a programme that has been running at St Mary's for many years, supporting children to reflect on their feelings and develop empathy for others by coaching pupils to connect with a baby.

This year., we have been working with lovely baby Pricillia and her mum. They are visiting us once every three weeks over the school year and we cannot wait to watch him grow and learn from him.

Recently, we were also delighted to be visited by the founder, president and CEO of Roots of Empathy, Mary Gordon. Mary had travelled from Canada to see the programme in action and it was an opportunity for us to share the transformative impact of our work at St Mary's, both within Roots of Empathy but also through our intiatives which complement this work, such as Opal Play and our Forest School.
