Monday 15 December 2025 Christmas cards! Our Eco Council loved making their own Christmas cards for friends and family - they recycled the pictures from old cards, then added their own personal messages.

Wednesday 26 November 2025 The Riot Act road safety workshop The Riot Act delivered an excellent road safety workshop for Years 5 and 6 today: "CSI - The Incident on Station Road".Students talked about the importance of using road crossings correctly, limiting distractions from their phones and taking responsibility for their own behaviour.

Saturday 22 November 2025 Road Safety Week (18-22 November 2025) We've been taking part in lots of activities to mark Road Safety Week this week. Children in the Nursery have been learning to 'Stop, look and listen', while they hold an adult's hand when they cross the road, as well as enjoying playing with the traffic small world.'

Wednesday 19 November 2025 Pupil Climate Network Meeting - Nov 2025 Our Eco Councillors took part in Lewisham Pupil's Climate Network Event at Rathfern Primary School, where they met with students from a number of Lewisham primary schools. We had a look at all the great work that Rathfern are doing with a focus on sustainability, including some fantastic art displays.Children took part in a leaf-rubbing workshop which they really enjoyed, and they came up with their very own Climate Pledges.

Saturday 1 November 2025 Cut Your Carbon Throughout November, we are encouraging all our families to take part in Cut Your Carbon. Activities include ditching the car, buying nothing new, going plant-based for a day and switching from baths to showers. Children will record their progress on a checklist and our Eco Council will monitor activities to see how well we've done at the end of the month.

Thursday 16 October 2025 Walk to School Week - October 2025 This October we've been celebrating International Walk to School Month! Children that walk to school every day received a sticker at the end of each week.

Wednesday 8 October 2025 Green fingers Our Eco Council has had a great start to the year! Each Councillor has adopted two new plants, taken from cuttings, to take care of in their classrooms.

Friday 13 December 2024 We have achieved TfL's Gold Award! We are delighted to have been awarded TfL's Gold Award for our work on sustainable travel and inspiring our pupils to travel actively, responsibly and safely (https://travelforlife.tfl.gov.uk/boroughs-partners/lewisham/st-marys-lewisham-church-of-england-primary-school/).Deputy Mayor of London Councillor Louise Krupski visited St Mary's in December 2024 to present our certificate. We also welcomed Dr Bike who provided a bike safety check to all those children that cycled to school, and awarded a special prize to Olu, the winner of our Bling Your Bike competition!

Monday 10 June 2024 Bikeability Training (3-7 June 2024) Children in Years 5 and 6 took part in Bikeability training for five days during July 2024 to help them acquire the practical skills to cycle safely and with confidence on today's roads. Level 1 gives children control over their bike and took place in groups in the playground. Level 2 prepared children for short journeys such as cycling to school. Training took place in small groups on quiet, local streets close to the school, giving trainees a real cycling experience.Training was delivered by Cycle Confident.
