Faith
We reflect on our own faith and what this means to us personally. We also recognise that learning about a diverse range of other faiths can help us to strengthen our own faith. We also reflect on how we can have faith in ourselves and others - with faith there is nothing that we can't achieve. On this page you will find lots of links to resources and ideas to help you explore and reflect on the value of Faith.
You will also see many examples of this value in action at St Mary's.

Faith News StoriesLearning at the Migration Museum
Did you know that there is a fabulous museum which is free in the middle of Lewisham Shopping Centre? It's called the Migration Museum and it's right next two the two pieces of stone which come from the Berlin Wall. Year 5 and Year 6 visited the museum and found out all sorts of interesting facts about migrants and immigrants. There were letters and postcards to read based on real people's experiences, a kitchen where people shared their love of food and recipes from many different countries and a classroom where children read poems composed by young people coming to the UK and having to start school. As a School of Sanctuary we are especially sensitive to the needs of people who may be escaping war or violence and we talked about what sanctuary means for people. We have Faith that they can find Sanctuary and a warm welcome. Sparks of Faith
This project supported the children in learning about respect for different Faiths. Year 3 collaborated with Artists and developed their Artistic skills. As part of a 2 day workshop, the children worked as a team to produce 6 collages around the theme of ”Sparks of Faith”. They reflected on different Religions and learned about their practices and beliefs. The children then used magazines, paint and their environment as sources of inspiration for their work. The religious symbols were displayed at a local Art Gallery. |
