A HUGE THANK TO THE GENEROSITY OF THE DAME MORDEN TRUST AND THE LEWISHAM NCIL FUND FOR THE GRANTS WHICH MADE THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE.Our Forest Friends group has been busy making dreamcatchers. Using bendy pieces of willow, they created the frame and then went on to use other materials such as string, beads and feathers.
Not only did everyone have to be very dextrous with their hands, they also had to share and encourage each other as this was a difficult task! We also talked about dreams and nightmares and how these affect us sometimes. Why don't you have a go at making a dreamcatcher? The children enjoyed exploring our Forest School garden in the different seasons of the year - the snow and ice transformed the space into a Winter wonderland!
We have been making full use of our new outdoor space in our Forest Friends club.
We have made bird feeders, planted bulbs and made forest art. The space is an amazing addition to the school and we hope to start a parent and toddler session in the New Year. Our fantastic volunteers from Fit Gym visited the garden and were busy moving the compost bays, planting jasmine, cleaning and planting the pond with oxygenating plants and constructing a natural screen around the pond.
Many thanks to our team of volunteers who have been back to our Forest School to help with the finishing touches. They undertook work to ensure the pathways are well maintained as well as sowing a lovely wildflower seed mix.
Nursery class enjoyed helping with the final stages of construction. Our outdoor classroom looks amazing now that the roof has been attached. It is a great space to learn. The children also explored the natural resources that they found, including twigs and leaves.
The children from Nursery have enjoyed exploring the Forest School garden. Year 2 visited and carefully observed a fire to support their observational drawing.
Our children and community were thrilled to see the Forest School garden coming to life as the area was landscaped and the main features added. The outdoor classroom frame was constructed, alongside the Tree House, Fire Pit, Mud Kitchen and the Pond.
