This half-term Nursery class have been learning about different types of celebrations. We started by looking at Birthdays. We focused our learning around the book Kipper’s Birthday. The children have been very busy making birthday cards for Kipper, writing invitations to our party, wrapping presents for Kipper, decorating birthday biscuits and even playing party games! Nursery class had their first trip to Lewisham Library. We really enjoyed listening too, looking at and sharing stories with our parents. We can’t wait to share the books we choose to borrow back at Nursery.
Nursery Class have really enjoyed learning the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children have been acting the story out in a variety of ways. They particularly enjoyed building a strong house of bricks in the outside area and pretending to be the big bad wolf and the three little pigs.
“The brick house is too strong!” William “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!” Michael The new Nursery children have settled in quickly into their new environment and are making the most of all the learning opportunities. They are building strong friendships and are learning to use their language in order to communicate with each other.
Nursery class have been very busy observing our caterpillars. The children have been very motivated to record what they can see. This experience has supported our talk for writing and we have been learning the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Last week our caterpillars went into their cocoons. We are patiently waiting for our butterflies to emerge! Watch this space…
Nursery class have been very busy over the past two week hatching our very own chicks! The children thoroughly enjoyed observing the eggs in their incubator. We waited in suspense for two days before the first chick hatched out of it’s egg. In total, we were lucky enough to have all ten of our chicks hatch. The children we able to help care for the chicks; changing their bedding, feeding them and giving them fresh water. We learnt how to handle the chicks carefully and safely and we all had a turn at holding the chicks.
“The eggs are going to hatch!” Ava ” I want to hold the chick and stroke it so carefully” Andriena “The chicks are so fluffy” Anneliese “The yellow ones are boys and the brown ones are girls. I would be yellow chick because I’m a boy.” Roshane A big thank you Jenesis and her family for looking after the chicks to carefully over the bank holiday weekend! |
