Year One had an exciting opportunity to watch chicks hatch live!
We showed the values of love, respect and responsibility by feeding them and keeping their box clean for two weeks. Year One had fun learning about plants that attract bees and planting them around the school. We learnt how bees are very important for our environment.
We were proud to share our learning in our class worship. We told the story of The Magic Porridge Pot, we counted backwards from 20 and even sang a song in French!
We went on a trip to West India Quay to look at different types of buildings. We enjoyed our journey on the DLR and we had fun sketching the buildings.
The children explored healthy foods as they enjoyed making fruit kebabs and trying a range of vegetables and dips.
As part of their ‘Animal Magic’ topic, Year 1 enjoyed a visit to Ladywell Fields. They explored a range of habitats and spotted signs of Spring.
As part of their Religious Education learning about Saints, Year 1 class were welcomed to St Mary’s Church by Father Steve. They explored the Church and found many different pictures and sculptures of Mary - including in the stained glass windows. Father Steve taught the children about the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Children in Year 1 learned about life cycles as they carefully observed chicks hatching from their eggs. The children learned how to care for the babies, providing them with food, water and shelter.
