Year 1 enjoyed a great day out, meeting the animals, learning how to care for them and even enjoying the chance to feed them!
Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic musical experience in the heart of London, by the River Thames. The children enjoyed a concert featuring a full Symphony Orchestra, led by a Conductor and featuring many classical instruments. The music was used as an accompaniment to one of our favourite stories 'The Snail and the Whale'. Everyone had learned a song and we were able to join in enthusiastically with the Orchestra.
Our super chefs in Year 1 learned how to make delicious fruit kebabs as part of their Healthy Eating topic. In their Design and Technology lesson, they watched and listened carefully to their teacher so that they understood the instructions to carefully prepare a selection of tasty fruits.
We have been learning early programming concepts, exploring individual commands and predicting the outcome of programs when using Bee-Bots. We thought about the commands needed to move the robot from one place to another on the mat, then we tested our algorithms and fixed any bugs that occurred.
In year 1, we have been making fruit kebabs, learning how to cut ingredients safely and prepare fruit skewers hygienically.
We had a lot of fun and they tasted amazing! Year 1 had a great time in the forest school, looking at signs of autumn. We were able to spot the changing in colour of the leaves, sycamore helicopter seeds falling from the trees and even a squirrel hiding food for the winter.
Year One went to Mudchute Farm to learn about farm animals and what they eat. They had a great time feeding and petting some animals.
'We went to visit the Catford Library. We enjoyed listening to the story of The Little Bird. We also borrowed some books for our class Library.
Note to parents/carers: We have some application form for joining the library. Please speak to Mrs Chetri if you would like one. We had fun doing the Dragon dance on Chinese New Year. A visitor told us the story about why Chinese people wear red clothes on Chinese New Year. We also tasted some delicious Chinese food and made some lanterns.
