As part of their Religious Education learning about Saints, Year 1 class were welcomed to St Mary’s Church by Father Steve. They explored the Church and found many different pictures and sculptures of Mary - including in the stained glass windows. Father Steve taught the children about the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Children in Year 1 learned about life cycles as they carefully observed chicks hatching from their eggs. The children learned how to care for the babies, providing them with food, water and shelter.
We are very excited to have received these wonderful photos of our Year 1 children learning at home. Please send us a photo to [email protected] and we will publish your learning for everyone to enjoy!
Inspired by the snow that we enjoyed at the weekend, Year 1 created and performed these amazing poems during our daily Zoom live video sessions. Well done everyone!
As part of their learning about Islam in Religious Education, Year 1 used digital software in Purple Mash to design these beautiful Prayer Mats, as part of their Home Learning.
Year One have been learning about materials and their properties. We made a lego house and investigated which material would be best to make a roof for our house.
Lucian: "I would use bricks because it is rigid and waterproof." Sarai: "Paper is not good because it is absorbent." Year One have been exploring numbers through indoor and outdoor play. We have been counting and ordering numbers using different resources. We also enjoyed counting backwards and finding one more and one less than a number up to 10.
