Mrs Chetri led us in a fascinating Worship as learned all about Divali. We entered the Hall to some meditative music on the theme of Peace. Mrs Chetri lit a traditional oil lamp (Diya) to start the Worship. Children shared the story of 'Rama and Sita' and Mrs Chetri explained the beliefs and practises that Hindus remember at Divali.
We welcomed Reader Marion from St Mary's Church who led us in All Saints Worship. Children read passages from the Beatitudes and Marion brought these to life by discussing their meanings, finishing with the message that 'we are all Saints'.
We explored the theme of Respect through the Old Testament story of Ruth and Naomi. Children shared the story using drama as we learned about how Ruth respected Naomi and showed Love by following her to Bethlehem where she worked hard at Harvest time. Eventually she married Boaz and their descendants eventually led to the birth of Jesus.
Father Max led a wonderful worship in St Mary's Church as we celebrated Harvest together as a School Community. The generous donations from our families were blessed by Father Max before being shared with those in need in our local Community. Well done to all of our children as each class created a beautifully decorated box to display the donations. Many thanks to our School Governor Kate Riches for baking a beautifully decorated Harvest loaf, which the children enjoyed.
A great way to start the new school year was to worship together in St Mary's Church. Father Steve led us in worship and the theme was Jesus as a shepherd. Children from Year 6 led the Reading and Prayers. We also sang 'Happy Birthday' to St Mary and looked at the beautiful icon of Mary and Jesus.
We learned more about the Muslim faith in our Worship as we heard from children and staff about the month of Ramadan and the festival of Eid. We shared readings from the Quran and compared the similarities and differences between beliefs and practises in different Faiths.
It was lovely to be joined in school by Father Steve, who led each bubble in a special Easter worship. The children reflected on the main events of Holy Week and the message of Christ’s crucifixion, his death as a forgiveness for our sins and his resurrection. We created an Easter garden in our Spiritual garden, which provided a space for prayer and reflection.
We were blessed to be able to return to worship in St Mary's Church in Autumn 2020 - each class was able to worship at least once as we met for All Saints, Remembrance and Advent.
The whole school shared a special worship together in St Mary's Church, led by Reader Marion. Each class had contributed a Harvest box filled with generous donations from our families. Thanks to everyone who contributed, the food will be shared with LEWCAS to help support asylum seekers. Marion helped us to reflect on everything that we should be grateful for in our lives, sharing the parable of the ten lepers and her own experiences growing up in an Indian leprosy hospital. Children from Year 6 delivered the Bible readings and prayers. At the end of the worship, Marion blessed a special Harvest loaf, kindly made by one of the parishioners, Kate.
The whole school shared a special worship together in St Mary’s Church, led by Father Steffan. Each class had beautifully decorated a Harvest box filled with generous donations from our families.
Thanks to everyone who contributed, the food will be shared with LEWCAS to help support asylum seekers. Father Steffan helped us to reflect on everything that we should be grateful for in our lives. Children from Year 5 delivered the Bible readings and used drama to retell the parable of the ten lepers. At the end of the worship, Father Steffan blessed a special Harvest loaf, kindly made by one of the parishioners. This Harvest loaf was shared by all of the children. |
