Health week culminated in our annual Sports Day, a fantastic event held at Ladywell Arena athletics track. The children were thrilled to compete at this specialist athletics arena and to race on the running track. The children competed in their teams at Sports Day, completing seven athletic challenges and a sprint race. It was also wonderful to welcome our parents to cheer their children on and take part in a tug of war and parent’s races. Congratulations to our winning teams, in KS1 the champions were the YELLOW team and in KS2 the RED team, both winning with record scores!
Each class at St Mary’s enjoyed taking part in a wide range of activities - focused on the theme of ‘healthy mind, healthy body’. During the week, the children experienced meditation, yoga, smoothie making, daily exercise and an exciting Sports Day!
On 28th June we had our Science Day. This included lots of fun activities, including Melting Ice, Clever Camouflage, making a bug hotel and making a water purifier for Years 1 and 2. Children in Years 3 and 4 made a skittles rainbow and Fishing magnets, while children in Years 5 and 6 made paper and a baking soda & vinegar rocket.
