Every class from Year 1 to Year 6 travelled to Greenwich Theatre to enjoy a professional and highly entertaining performance of ‘Snow White’. The costumes and set design were amazing and all of the children had an amazing time. We didn’t forget our youngest children as we arranged for them to watch a performance of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ back in school.
We were blessed to be joined at our annual Christmas lunch by elderly visitors from Bentley Court and the Glebe. The day started with a special performance of our wonderful Nativity show performed by our youngest children. Our visitors were guests of honour at our delicious Christmas lunch, before enjoying festive songs from our choir and refreshments in the Community Hub.
We enjoyed an amazing Christmas Fayre as all of the School community joined together for a wonderful event. Among the many activities were Santa’s grotto, Christmas raffle with 20 amazing prizes, food, drinks, live music from our Brass Band, Choir performance, face painting, stalls and games. There were many outdoor games to enjoy including hook a duck, tombola, raffle, ring toss, balloon pop, coconut shy, football and tin can alley! There was so much to enjoy and we were delighted to have raised a large amount of money for the school. All of the money raised will support the children in their learning. Thanks to all those that helped organise the event, especially to the Friend’s of St Mary’s.
Always a highlight of the Christmas season at St Mary's, our Nativity show performed by Year 2, Year 1 and Reception class was enjoyed by parents and children. The children looked amazing in their costumes, the singing was wonderful and Year 2 brought the Christmas Story to life through their enthusiastic acting. Many thanks to all of the staff who helped make it such a special performance.
Children need to be in school every day and on time, in order to reach their full potential. We celebrated those children from Years 4, 5 and 6 with 100% attendance as they went on a very special Christmas Journey. Set in the beautiful gardens of Lambeth Palace (the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury), the children travelled around 5 different sites, meeting key characters from the Nativity Story, with time provided for them to reflect on the deeper meaning of the story. Each child was given a special artefact to represent each stage of their journey.
